Dynamic Island

The Dynamic Island sits at the top center of your screen. Point at it to open Home, where you can type or speak a request, attach context, run a shortcut, or go back to a task in progress. Use it for quick requests and to keep an eye on what your Agents are doing without opening a window. For other jobs, use SmartBar for a quick question or command from a shortcut, the Chat Window for long conversations and files, the App Sidebar to work beside one app, PopBar to act on selected text, or the Desktop Pet for a character on your desktop. Window Management compares them all.

Start a request

Open Settings → Dynamic Island and turn on Enable Dynamic Island.
Point at the top center of the screen to open Home. To open it from the keyboard, set a Shortcut on the Opening & Display tab first.
Type a request, or click one of the Home shortcuts.
Check any attached context before you send. Appshots and Screen Doodle help you ask about other apps.
Follow the progress, and open the result when the task finishes.

Settings

Open Settings → Dynamic Island. Its settings are on three tabs.

Home

Setting	What it changes
Home shortcuts	The grid of shortcuts beside the input on Home. Drag a shortcut to reorder it or move it to another page, point to it and click × to take it off, or click Add Shortcuts to add more.
Weather and widget pages	Add the weather page or Add a widget page after your shortcuts.
Default Agent	The Agent that answers what you type on Home. You can switch Agents in the input at any time.

Reset Home to Default brings back Home’s default layout. Each tab has its own reset button.

Opening & Display

Setting	What it changes
Open when you point at it	How long you point before it opens: Right away, Short pause, or Long pause.
Fold when you move away	How long it stays open after the pointer leaves: Quickly, Normal, or Slowly.
Shortcut	Shows, opens, or folds the island from any app.
Hide until you point at it	Keeps the folded island out of sight until you point at the top center of the screen or press the shortcut.
Leave the notch to other apps	Pointing at the notch itself doesn’t open the island, so other notch apps can use it.
Bounce	How much the island springs as it opens and folds.
Show on	All Screens, Follow Mouse, or one display you pick.
Hide in full screen	Hides the island on a display while an app there is full screen.
Show in screenshots and recordings	Turn it off to keep the island out of what you capture or share.

Character

Setting	What it changes
Show a character on the island	Your Desktop Pet or the Default Agent’s Avatar appears in the folded island and acts out what your Agents are doing.
Character	Avatar or Pet.
Motion	Always, While working, or Never.
Use it as the agent’s icon	Shows the character as the Default Agent’s icon in the Chat Window.

Voice and finished tasks

Voice input turns what you say into a prompt. For a spoken conversation, use Live Talk; a Live Talk call you start from SmartBar moves to the Dynamic Island. To have the island open by itself when a task you started there finishes, turn on Open the Dynamic Island in Notifications. That setting is separate from macOS notifications.

Troubleshooting

Problem	What to do
It appears on another display	Check Show on.
It disappears when an app is full screen	Turn off Hide in full screen.
It’s missing from a screenshot or recording	Turn on Show in screenshots and recordings before you change any permissions.
It doesn’t open when you point at it	Press its shortcut. If the shortcut opens it, check Open when you point at it and Leave the notch to other apps. If nothing opens it, check Enable Dynamic Island.
