Enconvo can serve your knowledge bases to MCP-compatible AI clients on the same Mac. This is separate from Settings → Plugins → MCP Servers, which adds external tools to Enconvo’s Agents.
This feature is available in builds that include Connect AI Clients (MCP). If it is absent, check your update channel.

Connect a client

  1. Open the Knowledge Base window.
  2. Open its Settings → Connect AI Clients (MCP) dialog.
  3. Enable the Knowledge Base MCP server.
  4. Review MCP visible for every knowledge base you want the client to access. Dictation History is hidden by default.
  5. Copy the setup instructions for your client from the dialog. Use Streamable HTTP for clients that support it.
  6. Ask the client to list knowledge bases, then search one and read a matching item.
The local endpoint is:
Keep Enconvo running while the client uses the endpoint. Clients that require a stdio bridge should use the client-specific instructions shown in the dialog.

Available tools

The tools are read-only. This endpoint does not expose general Memory or Recordings tools. Reading an item can return its source path or URL as metadata.

Access and processing

The server accepts loopback connections only and does not require a token. Enabling it allows local processes to access the knowledge bases you make visible. A connected AI client can send returned content to its own model provider; review that client’s configuration as well. Search uses the knowledge base’s configured embedding provider and can incur that provider’s normal usage. “Local endpoint” does not mean every part of retrieval and answering runs offline.

Troubleshooting

Disable the server to stop access, or hide individual knowledge bases to narrow what clients can retrieve.
